Around the World in 80 Beers

In 1873 French author Jules Verne took us around the world in 80 days. What if, while traversing the globe, the reader stopped in for a pint at the end of each day? Well, we'd be going around the world in 80 beer. Sounds kind of fun, right?

In the world of craft beer, there are endless options to explore. Brewers around the globe are pushing the boundaries of flavor, style, and creativity, producing unique and memorable beers that reflect the cultures and regions they come from.

I remember having some awesome craft beer in Canada before it became a global phenomenon. Big Rock Traditional, Kokanee, or Kootenay were big names in western Canada back then and people would drive hours to load up their trunk on beer runs to B.C. I've seen the craft beer trend take hold in the United States since and the scene has exploded over the last 40 years.

With this in mind I have decided to create a list of a global venture of beer from around the world. I am a bit biased to Canuck brews so I've got one from each province for them, but apart from that they are pretty varied. I am sure you know of a local craft brew that should be on this list...there are sooooo many. Feel free to sign in and leave a comment below to list your favorite that you think should have made the cut.

Let's open up a tab...

Final Thoughts

Well done world traveler! You've added quite a few stamps to your passport on this trip. You've probably added a few pounds too so it might be best to hit the gym, yeah?

Whether you fancy an ice cold lager, or perhaps a room temperature stout, there is sure to be a beer out there that is your ideal beverage. I personally love slipping off to a pub when I am traveling to see what the locals are imbibing. I've found so many amazing brews this way and have met some wonderful people at the same time. I have also amassed quite the collection of beer coasters from all over the place. Odd the things we collect...

Cheers! Şerefe! Sláinte! Skål! Kanpai! Cin cin! ¡Salud! Santé! Prost! Na zdrowie!
